At the IBEW Local 906 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC), we believe that training the next generation of electricians prepares individuals for great careers and helps build stronger communities. Our programs provide high-quality education, hands-on training, and lifelong career opportunities while fueling local economies and supporting the Upper Peninsula.
Creating Pathways to Rewarding Careers
The JATC apprenticeship program offers a clear, debt-free path to a career in the electrical industry. Apprentices earn while they learn, receiving classroom instruction along with real-world, on-the-job training. Graduates leave with the skills and certifications they need to thrive in a competitive field, without the burden of student loans.
Further, a career through the JATC provides stability, health benefits, retirement security, and opportunities for growth in an industry that is always evolving. Whether it’s residential wiring, commercial projects, or cutting-edge renewable energy systems, our electricians are trained to take on the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Powering Local Economies
When apprentices train and work locally, the economic benefits ripple throughout the community. Good wages mean more money spent at local businesses, from restaurants to retail shops.Â
Projects completed by IBEW electricians, whether building schools, upgrading hospitals, or wiring municipal buildings, ensure that essential infrastructure is reliable, safe, and efficient. By investing in our apprentices, we’re also investing in the prosperity of the region.Â
Strengthening Communities
Trained electricians contribute directly to the quality of life in our towns and neighborhoods. They help power schools where our children learn, medical facilities that keep our families healthy, and businesses that provide jobs.
In addition, IBEW Local 906 and its members are active participants in community service. IBEW electricians volunteer time, resources, and expertise to local events, non-profits, and civic projects. Building strong communities is just as important as building strong electrical systems.
Looking Toward the Future
The demand for skilled electricians continues to grow as new technologies and renewable energy systems take root. Through the JATC, we are preparing the next generation of workers to meet these demands, ensuring our communities remain resilient, innovative, and prepared for the future.
At IBEW 906 JATC, we know that when we invest in people, we invest in communities. By building careers, we’re not only shaping the lives of our apprentices, we’re helping to power the future of the Upper Peninsula.
